Our Review of Everwood Season 1 DVD's
The setting is Everwood, Colorado; a quaint, picturesque mountain town where visitors rarely go unnoticed and each household’s business seems to be public domain. So it can only be expected that the residents of Everwood work themselves into a frenzy when the newly-widowed Dr. Andrew Brown, a world-renowned neurosurgeon, and his two children, Ephram and Delia, relocate to Everwood from New York City. Dr. Brown chose to relocate to Everwood because of a promise he made to his late wife before she died. She told him that if anything were to happen to her that he would find her in Everwood, a town she had fallen in love with when she was just a child.
After the pilot of Everwood aired, it became quite apparent that this show would be the breakout hit of the fall of 2002. Everwood became a show that presented the viewer with a view of the struggles families face in coping with life, death and growing up, but without the melodrama and somewhat corny, stereotypical, “Hallmark” moments. It’s a show that appeals to all viewers, young and old, and that can be watched with the whole family and, through great writing, manages to touch on many controversial themes, that the more family-oriented television dramas wouldn’t touch. Everwood continues to push the boundaries and give its viewers a true, unadulterated view of the trials and tribulations that most families face today, and the writers should be commended for that.
For those who missed the first season of Everwood, the DVD is an absolute must. And two years later, for those of us who watched and grew with the characters through the first two seasons, the DVD is a wonderful, and quite addictive, look back at the show, and a wonderful treat to see how the characters have grown since the first season. Along with unaired scenes, an extended version of the pilot, and The Emily and Greg cam, which gives a behind the scenes look at what it’s like working on the set of Everwood, the Everwood Season 1 DVD is a worthy edition to anyone’s DVD collection.
